Understanding IVDD Risk

French Bulldogs are naturally at risk for Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) due to their compact, muscular structure. On DNA panels, this may appear as “Chondrodystrophy (CDDY) / IVDD Risk.” This is extremely common in the breed — in fact, most Frenchies carry this trait.

Being at risk does not mean your dog will have problems. With proper care, safe handling, and awareness, this risk is manageable, and your Frenchie can live a happy, active life.
