We Want You To Know What Sets Salty Paw's Apart
French Bulldogs are an amazing breed, but like many purebred dogs, they can be predisposed to certain inherited health concerns. That’s why responsible breeding should begin with the health of the parents.
When you bring home a puppy, you’re making an investment in a companion who may be part of your family for 10 years or more. We believe that investment deserves more than a puppy who simply looks healthy today.
We Don’t Stop at DNA Testing
DNA testing is an important part of responsible breeding, but it is only one piece of the puzzle.
The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) is a widely recognized organization that provides health screening recommendations for many breeds. These evaluations help breeders identify potential concerns in areas such as joint health, heart health, and eye health before making breeding decisions.
At Salty Paw’s, both parents of this litter have completed the recommended OFA physical evaluations for French Bulldogs, including hips, patellas (knees), cardiac health, and eyes. They have also completed DNA health testing.
Our breeding dogs and puppies are also examined by a husband-and-wife veterinary team with more than 25 years of veterinary experience and 15 years of experience raising French Bulldogs themselves. Their familiarity with the breed gives them valuable insight into the physical characteristics and health considerations specific to French Bulldogs.
While no health test or veterinary examination can guarantee that a puppy will never develop a health problem, these steps give us more information to make thoughtful breeding decisions and reduce avoidable risks.
Know What You’re Paying For
When comparing French Bulldog breeders, we encourage you to look beyond color, markings, and price. Ask:
-
What health testing have the parents completed?
-
Were the parents evaluated through OFA?
-
What specific tests were performed?
-
Can you see the parents’ results?
-
What steps does the breeder take to reduce inherited health risks?
At Salty Paw’s, we’re proud to be transparent about the health testing behind our puppies and to give our families the information they need to make an informed decision.

Learn More About How We Raise Our Puppies
Our current French Bulldog puppies are $4,000 for standard colors, with specialty colors and patterns, including merle, priced separately.
Puppy pricing reflects more than color or appearance. It reflects the time, care, health screening, veterinary care, responsible breeding practices, and individual attention that go into raising each Salty Paw’s puppy from birth through their transition to their new family.
French Bulldog colors and patterns are determined by genetics, and some combinations are more difficult to produce because they require specific genetic traits to come together from the parents. Specialty pricing reflects the additional breeding considerations and rarity of certain genetic combinations—not a difference in the love, care, or value we place on each puppy.

Understanding Merle French Bulldogs
This thoughtfully planned pairing brings together two exceptional French Bulldogs with a focus on health, temperament, structure, and lifelong companionship.
Both Luna and Dak have completed the health testing and veterinary evaluations described above, and their results are available to you.
Merle is a naturally occurring color pattern in French Bulldogs that is created by the merle gene. Responsible merle breeding requires careful genetic planning.
For this litter, only one parent carries the merle gene (Luna), while Dak does not carry merle. This means we are not producing "double merle" puppies, which can occur when two merle dogs are bred together and may increase the risk of hearing and vision complications.
